Railways takes action to prevent seat grabbing in unreserved coaches

It has come to light a person was caught for unauthorized blocking of unreserved seats in unreserved coach of Train No.12679 Chennai Central – Coimbatore Intercity Express on 11.02.2017 and subsequently selling them for Rs.50/- per seat.He was nabbed by our Railway Inspector and immediately apprehended and booked under law.As per Indian Railways Act 1989 - Section 155 (1), blocking of unreserved accommodation in unreserved coaches is prohibited.In future any person attempting to block unreserved seats / berths will be severely dealt as per rule.
Unreserved passengers are requested to report such unscrupulous practices to the following Divisional Helpline phone numbers to enable Railways to take immediate action.
