Election Commission wants to include electoral literacy in the schools

In our country, the voting rights are given at the age of 18 years. At this juncture, the Election Commission is feeling that if the voting rights and electoral literacy is given during the school days, it would make a student a responsible voter.
The EC feels that electoral literacy should be included in the curriculum for the students of the age group between 15 years and 17 years.
In view of this, the election commission has asked the HRD Ministry to ask the NCERT with regard to inclusion of electoral literacy.
Chief election commissioner Nasim Zaidi had written to HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar requesting him to include electoral literacy in the curriculum.
