Tamil Nadu Assembly proceedings are on

The Tamil Nadu State Assembly is being convened today in the midst of an exciting atmosphere. Jallikattu ordinance will be tabled today in the state assembly.
The first State Assembly meeting for the year 2017 has been convened today at 10 am at the Secretariat Buildings. Governor Vidyasagar Rao began the assembly proceedings with his customary address in English. DMK Working President MK Stalin along with DMK members walked out in protest condemning the use of force on the protesters by the government.
After the Governor’s address the speaker will read the address in Tamil. After this The Business Advisory Committee will decide the duration of the Assembly sittings. It is the understood that the maximum duration of the proceedings will be 3 to 4 days. On the first day, a resolution condoling the death of the former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa will be passed. Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on the last day will thank the Governor for his address. After this the assembly will be adjourned.
During the month of March, the Tamil Nadu government will table the budget for the year 2017-18. This is the first assembly meeting which has been convened after the demise of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. There are great expectations because these proceedings are taking place when there is attack by the police against the protestors.
