The Committee chaired by the transport minister also comprises the Chief Secretary and secretaries from the departments of Finance, Industries and Transport.

The Chennai Monorail system is proposed to constitute a network of four elevated corridors from  Vandalur to Puzhal via Avadi, Vandalur to Velachery via Tambaram East, Poonamallee to Kathipara via Porur and Poonamallee to Vadapalani via Valasarawakkam, covering a distance of about 111 kilometres in and around the city.
