Made in India electric buses by Ashok Leyland

Ashok Leyland has made its new launch - the first of its kind Made in India electric bus. The minimum seating capacity in the bus is 35 and maximum is 65. With a single recharge, the bus can run up to 120 kilometres under standard test conditions, says Vinod K Dasari, MD of Ashok Leyland.
Launching the model, he stated that they have invested Rs 22 crore as the initial investment out of the total investment of Rs 500 crore. The remaining will be invested in the following phases.
In our commitment to enhance the technological investment in India, this circuit series is a new testament. It will provide best solution to the country and across the world. The price of the bus will be of the range Rs 1.50 crore to Rs 3.50 crore.
T. Venkataraman, the Ashok Leyland Senior VP Global Buses says these buses can get manufactured across all their seven manufacturing units. At present, these are getting manufactured in Alwar, Rajasthan and in Viralimalai, Tamil Nadu. We however have the capability to manufacture the bus across all the seven plants.
These buses can function well in hilly regions and heritage places. He further added that tendering process is on the go between three to four state transports.
