Posted on: 10/Oct/2016 2:33:39 PM
The central ministry has decided to issue individual identification numbers to each of the judges functional at the Supreme Court and 24 high courts. This is to monitor their functions and activities in their profession.

The Identification Number

Plans are being devised to set an identification number to each of the judge at Supreme and High Court so that the Supreme Court gets to know the verdicts given by them and their other functionalities. Based on the quality of their functioning, total number of postponements of hearing for each and every case, time period taken to issue judgement to the case, number of cases handled throughout their period, and so on, the National Judicial Data Grid can handle the functions of each and every judge.

No such data so far

So far, there is no such database being maintained about judges in India. No detail is either electronically or in writing, saved or recorded. Details about the court orders and case details are only recorded. However, the way in which each and every case is handled by the judge or the functionalities of the judge are not recorded so far.
