Aadhar Card distribution to the public: Task handed over to tamil Nadu State Government

The task of distribution of Aadhar Cards to the public, which was till now handled by the central government, was handed over to the Tamil Nadu Sate Government today (Saturday, 1st October).

It has been announced that the public can get their Aadhar Cards from e-service centres.

So, the distribution of Aadhar cards from today will be handled by the Tamil Nadu state government. Aadhar cards can be received from the e-service centres.

Aadhar cards are very essentially required for completing various tasks. It has also been announced that Aadhar Card number will be included in the Voter ID card issued by the Election Commission.

Joint Director of the Department of Census, Mr M R V Krishna Rao explained regarding this: Till yesterday, the central government handled the responsibility of distributing Aadhar Cards to the public.

The target was set that 7.21 Crore persons have to be given Aadhar ID Cards. Out of this, photo-taking activities for 7.7 Crore individuals (80 percent) has been completed. 6.48 Crore individuals have been issued Aadhar Cards.

The central government has now instructed the state government to take over the responsibility of issue of balance Aadhar Cards for the people yet to receive. The task is being handed over today –Saturday, 1st October.

Aadhar Cards will be distributed in the e-service centres under the control of Tamil Nadu Cable TV Corporation.
