Most of us enjoy sleeping late during weekends. It is obvious that we wish to sleep for long when we’ve got no responsibility. However, a new research by Sweden’s Karolinska Institute states this to be a bad practice as our body tends to lose its natural rhythm by sleeping late. Instead of feeling relaxed, the body will experience tiredness and get worse.

The lead researcher Susanna Jernelov said that sleeping later is an indirect way of giving jetlag to oneself. You will then turn less bright and perky.

By sleeping too little throughout the week and getting extended sleep during weekend will mess up your circadian rhythms. It is important to stay on a regular schedule, but this is however not practically possible in most of our lives. Vouching for the suggestions of Bjorn Bjorvatn, the lead researcher claims that one should stick on to the same time to wake up and go to bed. Never get into the practice of sleeping late during weekends. Say, you wake up at 12 pm during weekends, your body has to get back to the natural rhythm again.

While autumn and winter are the periods we mostly tend to stay in bed for long, these are the most important time for one to strictly practice the sleep routine, the research adds.
