Here comes metro service to Chennai Airport

Following months long wait, here comes the Chennai Metro Rail service to Chennai airport. The inauguration is set to take place next week. This service connecting little mount and Chennai airport covering a distance of 9 km is to get launched by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and Union Minister of Urban Development, Venkaiah Naidu together.
Sources say that the inauguration is likely to take place on any day between 18th and 20th of September and the necessary arrangements are being done now. The CM will probably inaugurate through video conferencing. Preparations are already started and will get wrapped up on Saturday.
This is the second stretch of metro. It was in June last year that the first one got opened for service between Koyambedu and Chennai airport. Between little mount and Chennai Airport, four trains will run. Even in the first stretch, there are about four to five trains functional throughout the day. For now, the services are provided between 6 am and 10 pm. It is expected that the service will get extended as it reaches up to Chennai airport for now, but it is uncertain though.
During the first week of August, the Commissioner of Metro Rail Services (CMRS) had approved the second stretch.
