The Jan Aahar at Chennai Central is departmentally managed by the Chennai Division of Southern Railway. Attention of the Chief Commercial Manager, Southern Railway was brought to the issue of closure of Jan Aahar at Chennai Central railway station.
Immediately, Chief Commercial Manager, Southern Railway enquired the matter and made the Jan Aahar to function from April 20, 2016 for the benefit of passengers.Procurement of materials for preparation of food items is through open tender at competitive rates.On enquiry it came to light that there were problems in procurement of raw materials which affected the preparation of food item.Immediate measures were taken for operation of Jan Aahar at Chennai Central.
Further, an enquiry has been ordered into the delay in finalization of the tender for the procurement of materials and for the lapses in finalization of the tender, the staff / official responsibility will be fixed. Now, the Jan Aahar has commenced full operations from 20.04.2016 for serving the passengers.
