Sabarimala timings extended

Every year the Sabari Malai Ayyappan temple will be opened on 1st Karthigai for Mandala and Makara Vilakku season. Accordingly the temple was opened last 16th. From 17th onwards the poojai is being conducted by new Sabarimala Melsanthi S.E. Sankaran Namboodiri. Large number of devotees did not turn up due to heavy rains in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Since the rains have stopped, there is increase of devotees.
From yesterday morning there is heavy crowd of devotees in the temple premises as well as in the grounds opposite the 18 steps. Since more crowds are expected the temple authorities have decided to extend the timings of the temple.
The temple will be opened at 4 AM and after the usual religious rites, the temple will be closed at 1 PM. Again the temple will be opened for evening poojai at 4 PM. After the usual poojas, the temple will be closed at 10 PM. Now the closing time has been extended by one hour. The temple will be closed at 11 PM.
