Rainfall Takes 2 days Holiday

All the coastal areas in the state can now heave a sigh as heavy showers will leave a pause for the next two days. Sources from the meteorological department say the depression on Bay has lost intensity and it has remained as an upper air circulation near Kerala and surrounding areas.
Maximum rainfall was recorded in Ambur that saw 6 cm rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 am yesterday. In other places like Yercaud and Uthagamandalam, the rainfall was 6 cm and 5 cm respectively.
Director of Area Cyclone Warning Centre, S.R. Ramanan said northern districts of the state receive scattered rainfall. The monsoon activity is likely to increase in southern part of Tamil Nadu. Places including Coimbatore and Nilgiris are likely to receive.
6 cm rainfall was received by Dindugal and Cheyyaru in Kanchipuram district. There was 1 cm rainfall in Coonoor in Nilgiris districts and Periyakulam in Theni district. During the weekend, there was 12 cm rainfall in the state which is 150 percent higher than the rainfall recorded in the week. There was 26 cm rainfall in Puducherry which is 113 percent higher than average level. Madurai, Theni, and Virudhunagar received comparatively shorter volume.
