Can the newly invented type of Rice in China help reduce Global Warming?

Global Warming is literally and metaphorically one of the most burning problems faced on Earth.
Scientists have emphatically confirmed that unless this global warming is arrested, Planet Earth cannot be saved.
The main reason for global warming is carbon-dioxide. The second most important reason is the methane gas released in the paddy rice fields. In fact, 20% of the methane gas in the atmosphere is from the water management in paddy fields usage of fertilisers, and agriculture, and ploughing.
In this scenario, Chinese scientists have invented a new type of rice known as CICEA-2. There are 2 important features about this new rice.
First, this rice yield will be much better than other varieties of rice. The second and significant feature is that it will release less methane.
If the quality and the beneficial features of this variety of rice is established, the plantation will be more and usage will be more.
