100 more KG classes commenced in Chennai Corporation Schools

A resolution to add 100 more kindergarten classes in Corporation primary & middle schools in Chennai was passed in a meeting yesterday, Tuesday, 4th August.
During the presentation of Chennai Corporation Budget for 2015-16, it was mentioned that additional kindergarten classes will be commenced in Chennai. In the 1st phase, 25 kg classes were started. Currently, there are 65 kindergarten classes.
During the year 2014-15, there were totally 5422 kindergarten classes in Corporation Schools. This is 2500 classes more than the previous year.
With increasing demand from the public to admit their children in kindergarten classes, it was proposed to add 110 more kindergarten classes. Classes were started. Out of this, there were no admissions in 10 schools. These 10 schools were removed from the list.
100 more kindergarten classes are to be started in the year 2015-16. All the new kindergarten classes will be provided with all facilities as given to the existing 65 schools.
A special school for the muscularly disabled children has been functioning in the Model School Road in Thousand Lights Area in Chennai. A resolution was passed to provide a room to a training centre conducting training classes for muscularly disabled children.
Another resolution to provide all facilities for kindergarten classes in corporation schools and to authorise the respective headmasters of the corporation schools with funds to be provided from the concerned Education Officer.
