Scorching heat: Heavy power consumption

There is heavy power consumption in Tamil Nadu because of the scorching heat. For the first time on Thursday 29.89 Crore units have been consumed.
For the last one week there has been scorching heat in Tamil Nadu including Chennai and Trichy. Because of this, the consumption of electric power is increasing. Last Tuesday, there was a consumption of 29 Crores units. Later on it was increasing day by day. On Thursday, the consumption was 29.89 Crores units. Last year, the highest consumption was 29.3 Crore units. Due to severe heat, people have started using air-conditioners. Because of this, there was increase in the units. Apart from this, the farmers were also using motor for water.
An additional three thousand megawatts were generated by windmill. Because of this, the electricity board was able to manage 13,000 megawatt additional power. If the scorching heat continues, the consumption will increase by 14,000 megawatts.
In Chennai alone 2904 megawatt power has been consumed on Thursday.
