Chennai Metro Rail will open today

Chennai Corporation and government officials will gather in Alandur this morning as Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha will inaugurate Chennai’s Metro Rail. Ms. Jayalalitha will open the service via video conferencing from the State Secretariat.
The first train will start from Alandur and services are expected to run till 11 pm pr midnight. The first train out from tomorrow will be at 6 am. Ticket sales will start from this afternoon. The route is between Alandur and Koyambedu and the stations en route are MBT, Arumbakkam, Vadapalani, Ashok Nagar and Ekkatuthangal.
The launch, which was to be on Sunday, was postponed till after the R.K. Nagar elections.
