CBT sessions prove to better sleep in insomniac

Researchers at the Northumbria University have found that acute insomnia can be cured by giving a curative behavioral therapy session (CBT session) to the patient. Their research proved curing nearly 73 per cent of the participants.
 
60% of the total participants in the research experienced betterment in their sleeping pattern after undergoing the therapy. The effect of the therapy was even more noticeable after 3 months of undergoing it as nearly 73 per cent of the participants reported significant betterment in their sleep pattern. About 15% of the participants however couldn’t find any change in their levels of insomnia.
 
According to the lead author Jason Ellis, insomnia puts a patient into a severe health burden which has its effect both on his or her economy and as an individual. This naturally worsens the physical and psychiatric conditions, he added.
 
Ellis concluded stating these single therapy sessions fetched excellent results seeing about 60% of participants finding good betterment in sleep with just one month.
 
This therapy did prove long term effects which let these insomniac patients enjoy good sleep for about three quarters down the line.
