Vegetable prices up in Koyambedu wholesale market!

Around 300 trucks of vegetables reach Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market every day. Retailers come and buy them to sell in the suburban/urban localities. Over the last few days, there was a decreasing trend in the prices of vegetables.

However, over the last 2 days, prices of vegetables have increased. 1 kg beans was sold at Rs. 15/- to Rs. 20/- during last week. Yesterday (Sunday, 1st March), beans was sold at Rs. 20/- to Rs. 25/- per kg.

Lady’s finger (okra or vendaikkai), which was sold at Rs. 15/- per kg last week, was now sold at Rs. 25/- per kg.

The prices of small onions (sambar vengayam) and yam (seppankizhangu) have also gone up!
