Campus Interviews in IIT Chennai: 880 students get appointments in the 1st Phase!

Indian Institutes of Technology offers several specialised courses on technology. The 1st phase campus interview for the students in the final year (2014-15) had commenced at the start of December.
So far, 880 students have received appointment letters.
Professor Babu Viswanathan, IIT Chennai Campus Interviews-in-charge, had an interview with press reporters:
The campus interviews started on 1st December and ended on 18th December.
1360 students had registered.
295 companies participated in the campus interview.
880 students have been selected for appointments.
Out of this, girl students are 16%.
Last year, 1400 students had registered. 905 got appointments.
As compared to this, the prospects are bright for more number of students to get appointment orders.
2 students got the highest annual salary of Rs. 34 Lakhs from Indian companies.
3 students got the highest annual salary offers of US $ 1,29,500 from foreign concerns.
The highlight of this year’s campus interview was the participation of 65 new companies and offered 122 appointments.OLA Cabs offered 32 jobs. Flipkart offered 18 jobs.
Indian company Robert Bosch offered 16 jobs. Sundaram Motors offered 10 and Honeywell, 12.
61 students got 2 appointments. 9 students received 3 appointments. 4 students received 4 appointment letters. 1 student received 5 appointment letters!
The 2nd phase of the campus interview is scheduled from 18th January. It is expect that more educational institutions will participate.
