Ingredients:
- Beans – 1 cup
- Carrot – 1 cup
- Fresh green peas – 1 cup
- Moong Dal – 50 grams
- Onion – 1 nos
- Red Chilli / Green Chilli – 3 nos
- Turmeric powder – ½ spoon
- Garlic – 5 nos
- Mustard seeds – ½ spoon
- Cumin seeds – ½ spoon
- Curry leaves – a few
- Salt – To taste
- Coconut - small piece
- Oil – 3 spoons
Method:
- Wash and soak the moong dal for about half an hour before the preparation of the dish.
- Cut the vegetables into small even sized pieces (smaller the pieces, it will cook well).
- Heat oil in the pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds for tempering.
- Then add the curry leaves and either red or green chilli into it.
- Now add the chopped onion into it and sauté until its colour turns golden brown.
- Add the chopped carrot, beans and fresh green peas into it and stir well for 3 minutes.
- Sprinkle turmeric powder and salt to taste.
- Now drain the moong dal and add it to the dish.
- Add little quantity of water and pressure cook it for 1 whistle.
- Once the vegetables cooked well, open the lid add the grated coconut and stir well.
- Serve it hot!
- It will go well with rice or with chapatti.
Note:
- Peas is the rich source of Vitamin A and C and rich in iron.
- As peas in rich in nutrient content, it is suggested to include as much as possible in day to day food preparations.
- Since this dish has prepared along with dal, you can serve it to the kids with rice along with a spoon of ghee.
