Increasing e-commerce shipments in the recent days

Speaking to one of the city postmen, he says he used to deliver about 5 e-commerce shipments every day. But now, he finds the volume doubled. He claims this to be due to the increasing popularity of e-commerce business and e-commerce shopping. Devoid of reliability with other delivery mechanisms, e-commerce giants like Amazon, Snapdeal, Flipkart, etc are eyeing on Indian postal service to deliver their shipments. They get into an agreement with the postal department. So far, over 120 such e-commerce companies are tied-up with the department.
According to the views of chief postmaster general, there has been a considerable dip in the number of personal communication letters in the recent years, however, more of business and commercial mails are in more numbers
