Fire destroys medicines worth Rs 5 crore in Chennai

A fire broke out at the manufacturing unit of a pharmaceutical company on the Vandalur-Kelambakkam road here on Thursday morning. Medicines worth Rs 5 crore were destroyed.
The name of the company manufacturing medicines is Fourrts (India) Laboratories Pvt Ltd
Police said only a few employees were present at the manufacturing unit when the fire broke out at 3AM.
An electric short circuit caused the fire.
Fire fighters from Siruseri, Guindy and Tambaram fought for over three hours to put out the blaze.
There were no casualties.
