IRCTC to set up food plazas at three MRTS stations

IRCTC will set up food plazas at three MRTS stations by March 2015.
Tenders for the plazas at Thirumayilai, Thiruvanmiyur and Velachery stations were floated on April 2014.
“Due to various reasons, there were no takers for the sites. Retendering process is on,” said V Sriram, regional director, IRCTC, south zone in a statement in response to the report, ‘Halt, Shop, Go: Biz Plans Needed’ which was published on October 27 in these columns.
“Southern Railway is offering full cooperation to make the projects a success. It is unacceptable that floor plans were unavailable. Without approval from competent authorities, the tenders could not have been floated in April 2014,” he said, refuting the allegation that the process was stalled due to red-tapism.
