Announcement that Power cuts to be imposed again for Industries!

With wind season facilitating power generation from wind-mills getting over,and the generation from these sources off, in order to counter the extra demand, 20% power cut has been imposed again for the industries.
Demand is more than generated power in Tamil Nadu. To tide over the shortfall, power cut was imposed from November, 2008. Accordingly, power was cut for 2 hours daily for domestic consumers in different areas on a rotational basis in Chennai and 4 hours daily in other places.
There has been a complaints that power cut has been imposed for several hours in the southern districts.
An official informed that a contract has been made to procure 3300 MW from private sources. However, this has not been available when needed. Hence, power cur was imposed after getting approval from the state government. An expected saving of about 500-700 MW will be diverted for domestic users.
