As the land acquisition process is dragging slow, the state finds it tough to construct the 262-km stretch 6-lane Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway (BCE) project, say officials of NHAI. This six lane way will penetrate through the routes: Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Vellore districts of Tamil Nadu, and Chittoor in AP, Kolar in Karnataka and rural places of Bengaluru. The highway with mark its beginning at Hoskote which is the junction of NH-4 and NH-207, and will end at Sriperumbudur.

The major portion of the highway will be present in Tamil Nadu, however works to acquire land is still not started. Comparing our progress with that of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, they are far ahead in completing the works, say officials.

As it is a green field project, giving it out to contractors will not be possible without finishing land acquisition, they added. The total land area to be acquired is 2295 hectares out of which only 1000 hectares is to be obtained in Tamil Nadu alone.
