Lag in proper screening for Ebola

Posted on: 21/Aug/2014 9:36:29 AM
It is observed that more than 60 per cent of Indians who are monitored for Ebola virus are based in Tamil Nadu. However, the screening system is not satisfactory and is guessed to allow the killer virus to get through.

According to the World Health Organization, this is a situation of public health emergency and an outbreak. It is important to follow certain guidelines to prevent spread of the virus throughout the country. This seriousness is understood and necessary screening procedures are done only in seven specific airports which are Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai and Kochi.
