Panasonic recently launched Eluga smartphones in India. The phone, which is priced at Rs.18,990, will be available in the Indian market from the first week of August.

The Eluga is the first smartphone from Panasonic in India to feature a Qualcomm processor. So far all its smartphones were powered by MediaTek chipsets. The Eluga features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core CPU. It has 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal memory and support microSD cards.

The device has a 5-inch 720P display, which is reinforced with Gorilla Glass 3. Design wise, it reminds us of the Google Nexus 4 as it has glass on both sides. The phone uses unibody design and hence its 2,500mAh battery is not accessible by users.

The phone is rather slim at 7.95mm and weighs 141 grams. It supports dual-SIM capabilities with two microSIM slots.

On the back, the device has a 13-megapixel camera and a LED flash. On the front there is a 2.1-megapixel camera.

Software wise, Panasonic has done something interesting. While the phone runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, it offers two launchers. One is the stock Google Now launcher, which is found on devices like the Nexus 5. The other launcher is the Fit Home launcher that, according to Panasonic, makes one-handed use easier on a phone despite its 5-inch screen.

The phone is available in two colours - black and white.
