World Hepatitis Day is a global platform for raising awareness about hepatitis and brings about real change in prevention, testing and treatment of hepatitis, and is an initiative by the World Health Organization with its global partners.
World Hepatitis Day was organized at MedIndia Hospitals, 83, Valluvar Kottam High Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai.
The doctors said that most common is unsafe injections or unscreened blood transfusions. There are other modes such as unhygienic medical procedures, minor to major surgeries, ear piercing and reuse of blades. The virus can also be transmitted from mother to child as well. Tattooing is another cause but it is not very common.
