Chennai Metro Rail administration has announced that they will be conducting a food festival (Metro Nival) on 4th and 5th June at Chennai Vadapalani Metro Rail Station.
Chennai Metro Rail awarded a contract worth Rs. 1,947 crore to Gammon India and Russian firm Mosmetrostroy for construction of seven underground stations along Anna Salai, including at LIC, Government Estate and Thousand Lights in the year 2011 but the work did not progress.
Second trial run conducted by CMRL

For the second time, the Metro Rail has conducted its trial run between Alandur and Airport on Sunday. Officials of CMRL have mentioned that regular rail service will begin during the month of July.
Change in Metro train schedule on May 16

The metro train services schedule will be altered on May 16. The first train departing from Koyambedu and Alandur will leave at 6 am and the last train will depart at 10.20 pm.
Complex soil structure has been holding back the completion of the 300 metre stretch between Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and Chennai Central Railway Station.
