How too much intake of pistachios would affect our health?

Belonging to the cashew family, pistachios are consumed by many of us these days as they provide us with plenty of health benefits. The pistachios have minerals, vitamins and essential fatty acids and these would keep our health in good shape. By eating pistachios we would get more nutrients, lose excess weight, get healthy bacteria in the gut, lower cholesterol and lower blood sugar levels etc. There are some people who consume more pistachios by assuming that they could get superb health. It is known that anything when consumed in excess could result in side effects only. 

Various health issues of eating excess pistachios are

Increase in weight:
When consumed in limited amounts, pistachios would help us to lose weight. Excess intake could lead to weight gain in us. There are 700 calories present in one cup of pistachios. So, please be careful.

IBS and stomach pain etc:
There are chances that we could get IBS or irritable bowel syndrome when we consume too much of pistachios. Some people would have stomach cramps and would find it difficult.

High blood pressure:
Not many of us would be aware of the fact that too much of pistachios could lead to high blood pressure. This would affect the heart health also. The pistachios we consume are roasted ones having excess salt and this would increase the BP levels in us.

Kidney issues:
When a person with kidney problems consumes excess pistachios, then he or she would get affected. The reason is due to the presence of potassium in pistachios. It is known that potassium would help in maintaining electrolyte balance plus would provide relief from stress etc. In the persons with kidney issues, their kidneys would not be able to function well and intake of pistachios with potassium would result in excess potassium in the body. The kidneys would not be able to remove excess potassium. This could lead to several other health issues.

Risk of getting kidney stones:
Potassium balance in us would get affected by excess intake of pistachios. It is learnt that the oxalates and methionine in pistachios would lead to the formation of calcium oxalate. This calcium oxalate is one of the major components of kidney stones in us.

Issues in digestion:
When we consume excess pistachios, then we would feel bloated and it can lead to issues in digestion. This is mainly because pistachios have high calorific value. So, please take care.
