Imbalances of certain nutrients in the diet could lead to imbalances in our body is a known fact. It is important to mention that diabetes is a condition that causes imbalance of sugar levels in us.

Hyperglycemia refers to a state where the blood sugar levels become high and exceed in the body when compared to the normal amount.  This would indicate the presence of diabetes in a person. The persons with diabetes must get treated or else it could lead to several further issues. It is believed that foods that have glycemic index or GI of 55 or less could be suitable for the diabetic patients

It is possible to reduce the blood sugar levels naturally in the homes by intake of these foods.

By consuming nuts:
There are plenty of fibres, proteins, unsaturated fatty acids, antioxidants etc in the nuts. Hence, those persons with diabetes must consume nuts. Cashew nuts have GI of 22 and peanuts have GI of 14.

By consuming whole grains:
For maintaining the blood sugar levels, it is good to consume whole grains that are rich in fibres, nutrients etc. The glycemic index of whole grain pasta is 42 and that for bread is 51.

By consuming yoghurt:
It is said that for those persons with diabetes it is superb to have unsweetened yoghurt. The GI for yoghurt is low is known.

By consuming garlic:
Intake of garlic could reduce the levels of sugar in the blood and for this reason garlic must be consumed compulsorily by those having diabetes. The secretion and sensitivity of insulin gets improved.
