According to latest study reports, it is likely that the risk of cancer may increase with the more calcium supplements you take. Scientists further claim that the nutrients obtained out of regular food sources would be sufficient for our calcium needs. Results of the study were published on journal Annals of Internal Medicine. It claims that taking extra nutrients will help in reducing the likeliness of death or diseases out of other causes, but the nutrition source should be foods and not supplements.

There is increased likeliness of cancer death when a person takes up supplemental calcium dose counting to more than 1000 mg in a day.

Experts say there are studies continuously being done on the harmful effects of regular supplement intake. There are also other studies that associate nutrition intake and its effects including cause of cancer.

We need proper understanding about how nutrients and the source of nutrients are related to health outcomes.  For the aforesaid study, data were collected from 27,000 US adults of the age group 20 and above. This evaluated the connection between dietary supplement and cause of death, cancer and other cardiovascular diseases.

The research involved studying the relation between nutrients and death. And the effect of nutrient source whether food or supplements is being studied.

Furthermore, the study claims that with surplus consumption of magnesium and vitamin K, there is lesser risk of death. And when the intake of vitamin A, K and Zinc are more, you can reduce risk of CVD-induced death.
