Shocking!! No water supply for past 16 years in the southern Chennai locality!!

The residents belonging to Chitlapakkam and Madambakkam in southern Chennai haven`t yet received the water supply connection to their houses through the combined water supply scheme works despite this scheme launched in 2018 itself. The residents are now unhappy and totally disappointed.
It must be recalled that in July 2019 itself the construction of water supply system collecting sump and pumpjng arrangements at Madambakkam lake and on OHT of 2 lakhs litres at Chitlapakkam was completed. With the assurance that the water connections would be provided after the rains, the scheme was launched here.
A resident from Chitlapakkam brought to light that for the past 16 years there has been no water supply in the area. He added that the residents gave complaints regarding the problem and in March 2021 deposit money (for the water connections) was also collected from the residents. Truth is that after collecting the deposit if Rs 10000 no water connections have been provided to the residents till now.
The borewells have been drying fast and in the absence of the water connections the residents here have been forced to buy water for Rs 1000 daily. It is learnt that on 22rd April 2021 the corporation accepted the residents objections.
