The corridors of the Sabarimalai Lord Sri Ayyappan temples were closed today (Friday, 20th January) after the successive Mandala Pooja and the Makara Vilakku Pooja!

Earlier, the temple corridors of the Sabarimalai Lord Sri Ayyappan temple were opened on 30th December for the sacred Mandala Pooja and Makara Vilakku Pooja.

Lakhs of devotees arrived at Sabarimalai during this period to have the Darshan of Lord Sri Ayyappan and the daily number of visitors touched a lakh!

The Dewaswom Board and the State Government of Kerala undertook the activities for ensuring the safety of the visiting devotees!

With the Mandala Pooja and Makara Vilakku Pooja being performed over the last 2 months having concluded, the corridors of the temple were closed today (Friday, 20th January).

Subsequently, for the Poojas to be performed during the Tamil Calendar month of Maasai, the temple corridors of the Lord Sri Ayyappan Temple will be opened on 12th February at 5.00 AM.

It has been informed that Special Poojas will be performed from 12th February to 18th February.

It may be noted at this juncture that over the previous 2 years, due to the impact of the raging coronavirus pandemic, severe restrictions were imposed and only a limited number of devotees could visit the temple! However, this year, with all restrictions relaxed, a swarming crowd of devotees visited and had Darshan of Lord Sri Ayyappan!
