Important information regarding rains today and tomorrow in Chennai

Light to moderate rains with thunderstorms is expected to occur in few places in Tamil Nadu. This could be due to the atmospheric downward circulation prevailing over several parts of TN.

There would be heavy rains in the districts like the Nilgris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Theni, Dindigul, Chengalpet, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai etc. This was revealed by the RMC in Chennai.

Ramanathapuram district received the highest rainfall of 9 cm and this was until Saturday morning at 8:30 am. There was 7 cm rainfall each in the districts like Sivaganga, Madurai and Tiruvarur etc.

Normally, TN would receive a normal average rainfall of 99.9 mm but it received 164.2 cm rainfall from 1st of June onwards. The rainfall has been large and excess in the state.

There would be heavy rains in one or two places in the next 2 days in the coastal districts of north TN, adjoining districts and Puducherry areas. The fishermen have been asked not to go into the sea to catch fish as the winds would be blowing at the speeds of 40 kmph to 50kmph along south Andhra coastal places and adjoining north Tamil Nadu coastal areas, Central West and South West Bay of Bengal etc.

For the next 2 days, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy in Chennai and on Saturday and Sunday Chennai would receive light to moderate rains with thunderstorms. The maximum temperature in the next 2 days will be around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature would be around 26 degrees Celsius to 27 degree Celsius.
