Important information regarding the reduction in the intensity of rains in Chennai!!

The news that has emerged out now is that the intensity of rains would reduce from Monday in Chennai. It is known that on Sunday several parts in Chennai received heavy rains. For another couple of days, the western and southern parts of TN would receive heavy rains.

Isolated places over Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Ramanathapuram districts would have heavy to very heavy rains with thunderstorms. Over the rest of coastal Tamil Nadu at most places, thunderstorms with moderate rains are likely to occur. This was mentioned by IMD or Indian Meteorological Department. Most places over interior districts of TN would receive light to moderate rains.

Information gathered is that the districts of Chennai, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram and Tiruvalllur declared a holiday for the students belonging to schools and colleges on Monday. Due to heavy rains, Puducherry has declared holidays for the students on Monday and Tuesday. In the Chennai city, heavy rains have flooded various localities like Velachery, K.K. Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Mambalam, Tambaram, Perambur and Vepery etc.

Point is that till 2:30 pm on Sunday, Chennai received 1021mm of rain. In the year 2015, Chennai received 1049mm rains is known. The all-time record for highest rains in Chennai was recorded in the year 1918 and it was 1089 mm rains. In the coming days, just 10mm to 20 mm rains have been predicted in Chennai. It was mentioned by the minister for revenue and disaster management Mr. KKSSR. Ramachandran that 15016 persons have been housed at 188 relief camps in various districts of Tamil Nadu.
