IMD: Low-pressure zone intensifies - Prospects for heavy rains in the next 3 hours in Chennai and some districts!

Indian Meteorological Department has informed that there are prospects for heavy rains in several districts including Chennai in the next 3 hours.

Due to a cyclonic format prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the North interior Tamil Nadu, there are prospects for heavy to very heavy rains with lightning and thunder in a few places in the districts of Kanyakumari, Nilgiri, Theni, Dindigul, and Tirupur.

There are prospects for heavy rains in the districts of Erode, Thirupathur,  Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Ranippettai, Kanchipuram, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Coimbatore, Salem, Dharmapuri, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Perambalur, and Mayiladuthurai.

In the above scenario, the low-pressure zone prevailing over the North Andaman and its adjacent areas is likely to intensify into a deep depression zone in the next 24 hours

This can transform into a deep depression zone over the West-central Bay of Bengal on 17th November. Due to this, it is informed that there are prospects for heavy rains in a few places in Tamil Nadu until 18th November.

Indian Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for heavy rains with thunder in the next 3 hours in a few places in the districts of Chennai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Kanyakumari, Thenkasi, and Thirunelveli.

Apart from the above, there are prospects for heavy rain with thunder in a few places in the districts of Coimbatore, Namakkal, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Thiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Thanjavur, Thiruivarur, Nagaptinam, Ranippettai, and Kanchipuram.
