If you are of the view that the psoriasis issue could be due to cosmetic or skin problems and it is contagious, then you are wrong!!

When a person’s immune system is overactive and his or her healthy skin tissue gets attacked, then the person is said to have psoriasis issues. Psoriasis could lead to inflammation and speed up skin cell growth. This could lead to itchy, scaly and painful skin and there would be inflamed red plaques or silvery scales. Truth is that psoriasis issues tend to go through cycles flaring up for a few weeks or months and then subsiding for some time. This issue could be managed well.

It is true that psoriasis could affect the patient’s quality of life as the patients could get stressed easily.  The failure of conventional therapy has led the patients to turn to other alternative medicine sources like Ayurveda and Homeopathy medicines etc.

Various other reasons for psoriasis are cold and dry weather conditions, heavy alcohol intake, smoking, infections etc.

If not managed well, psoriasis could worsen by these ways

Inflammation:
It is well known that psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease that could lead to inflammation. Persons having mild psoriasis would also have inflammation in them. The patients could get other associated health issues by this inflammation.

More risk of getting other health complications:
Persons with psoriasis could develop co-morbid conditions or other associated conditions. One example is psoriatic arthritis. Truth is that psoriatic arthritis is seen in 305 of psoriasis patients. Those with psoriatic arthritis would have inflamed joints. They would experience severe pain, stiffness, swelling etc in their joints. It is important to note that those with severe psoriasis have more chances of getting heart attacks, strokes, type-2 diabetes etc. There are also chances of other issues like COPD, metabolic syndrome and BP and kidney disease etc affecting those with severe psoriasis issues.

Plaques and scales formation:
When the person with psoriasis does not get treated for the issue then he or she could get plaques and scales in them. These continue to build and spread all over. After some point of time, these could become painful leading to severe itching. It is a fact that the severity and frequency of these could become more without proper treatment to prevent flare-ups.

Mental health and life quality gets affected:
If a person has a psoriasis issue for a long period, then he or she could get affected mentally. This could affect the overall quality of life of the person. The self confidence of the affected persons could d go down due to the presence of symptoms on their face and hands etc. This issue could even affect social relationships. It must be noted that persons with psoriasis could have depression and anxiety etc. It becomes a vicious cycle with increased plaques leading to depression and anxiety and these in turn could trigger psoriasis flare-ups.

There would be improvement in the overall health of the patient when he or she addresses psoriasis issue along with stress issues also simultaneously through counselling or through community support groups etc.
