A flyover that would connect South Usman Road and CIT Nagar would provide a superb solution for the traffic congestion in the busy T. Nagar in Chennai. Sounds incredible right!!

It is brought out that GCC would be constructing this flyover and due to this reason 3 busy junctions in T. Nagar would be decongested. Information from the Chennai Corporation is that the new flyover would decongest South Usman Road- Burkit Road, Madley Road Junction, a 4- legged junction near T. Nagar bus stand, and South Usman Road- South West Boag Road and New Boag junction another 4-legged junction. Decongestion of CIT Nagar First Main Road- CIT Nagar North Road Junction which is a T junction would also be possible due to this new flyover construction.

The source belonging to GCC hinted that the plan was to construct a flyover along South Usman Road CIT Nagar First Main Road covering all the 3 junctions. To prepare DPR for this new flyover, GCC has invited private consultants. Preliminary general arrangement drawing or GAD and the alignment plan showing salient features of the flyover would be made by the eligible consultant.

Based on cost effectiveness and ease of construction, features like alignment, overall length, cross section plus area of land required etc would be finalised. This was also brought out by the source.

There are many multi-storey textile showrooms plus various small shops etc present and due to these there are always lots of customers here. The traffic in the Burkit Road, Mackey Road and in CIT Nagar First Main road shops is always so high and the public have been finding it difficult. It must be noted that there is a flyover on the Usman Road.

Under the smart city mission, GCC has been busy with the construction activities of a footbridge that would link Mambalam railway station and T. Nagar bus stand.
