Shilpa Shetty husband Raj Kundra in custody till July 23

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra was arrested on Monday night for obscene and pornographic content.
He was taken to the Esplanade Court in Mumbai this afternoon. He will be in judicial custody till July 23 along with a person named Ryan Tharp. Raj Kundra is booked under sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292, and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code besides other sections of the IT act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
According to the Mumbai Police Crime Branch, a case was registered in February 2021 about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps online. An ex-employee of Raj, Umesh Kamat was the first to be arrested in the case after he was accused of uploading videos of Gehna Vasisth, an actress in Bollywood. According to the police, these videos are pornographic and obscene in nature. On further probe, Raj Kundra’s name had cropped up and the police have named him ‘key conspirator’ in the case. A couple of WhatsApp chats seem to be important evidence.
