Sarpatta Parambarai to release on OTT

While theatre owners are in a panic that, eagerly awaited movies are going to OTT platforms, director Pa. Ranjith’s “Sarpatta Parambarai” will also see a straight OTT release.
With the lockdown crisis not easing down for places like cinemas, theatre owners are panicking if audiences will come to theatres again. Amidst all these controversies, producers seem to go for the safer bet and that is releasing on OTT. The latest among them is “Sarpatta Parambarai” which created quite a buzz when the teaser was released. The movie will skip theatre release and will be showcased on Amazon Prime.
Pa. Ranjith known for his true to life stories and screenplay, opted for a sports drama this time after making gangster flicks like “Kabaali” and “Kaala”. Starring high voltage actors like Pasupathy, Arya among others, the movie is based on the boxing scene of the ’80s in North Chennai. It is produced by Ranjith for his Neelam Productions along with K9 Studios.
Sources add that Amazon had considered Pa.Ranjith’s repertoire of movies and has come up with an irresistible offer to which the producer has agreed to release. Theatre owners were looking forward to such popular movies to change trends but looks like the producers are wary of their chances. Hoping the trend changes as soon as COVID vaccination is done by the majority of the population.
