Rains in Chennai now due to high heat

Regional Meteorological Centre or RMC has confirmed on Monday that there would be rains in Chennai and this would be due to a spike in the temperature. It must be noted that the temperature in the day went up to 39 degrees Celsius.

In the next 2days, there would be heavy rains along with thunderstorms in the Delta districts, The Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni etc

Mr. N. Puviarasan, director of Are Cyclone Warning Centre expressed his views. He spoke about how Chennai has been getting breeze from the west and how it has led to a rise in the maximum temperature to 39 degrees Celsius. It is learnt that only when the sea breeze pattern changes then the temperature will come down. In the next 2 days, Chennai would experience light to moderate rains and the day might be hot.

He later explained about the thunderstorms with heavy rains that would occur in few places like The Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Madurai and Delta districts in the next 48 hours. He concluded that for the next 48 hours light to moderate rains with thunderstorms might occur in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpet and Kancheepuram plus  Western Ghats districts etc.

Yesterday, the maximum temperatures in the city of Chennai increased and Nungambakkam recorded 38.6 degrees Celsius and Meenambakkam recorded 39.1 degrees Celsius.

Meenambakkam recorded a minimum temperature of 28.7 degrees Celsius and Nungambakkam recorded a minimum temperature of 29.4 degrees Celsius. It is well known that RMC was first formed in 1787 and is responsible for weather related activities in southern Indian states.
