It has been confirmed by a latest research study that by replacing a tablespoon of rice or wheat flour in daily meals with green jackfruit flour the plasma glucose level could get lowered in patients with type-2 diabetes issue.
The researchers have published the study in the journal called Nature. They have found that the mean reduction in the glycosylated haemoglobin or HbA1c at week 12 was significantly higher in patients given green jackfruit flour. It is learnt that those who have been given placebo flour have reported a slight increase in the HbA1c at week 12, p=0.006.
The above research study was conducted by 4 persons namely Mr. A. Gopal Rao, Mr. Sunil Naik and Mr. A.G. Unnikrishnan and Mr. James Joseph. They evaluated the efficacy of Jackfruit 365 green jackfruit flour. Point is that this is a patented product that has been made from 100% mature green unripe jackfruits in India. Evaluation was done as an integral part of daily meals in patients with type-1 diabetes. It must be taken into note that a total of 40 patients were enrolled and a significantly higher reduction of HbA1c was witnessed in those belonging to Group A (those who were given green jackfruit flour) compared to Group B from baseline to week 12.
In Group A, mean change in fasting plasma glucose and post- prandial plasma glucose was higher significantly when compared to Group B. It has been revealed that after the administration of jackfruit flour meal there has been a decrease in the mean glucose in the 7 days.
