Superb!! Rains in Chennai in the next 2 days

It has been predicted by the weathermen that Chennai and other coastal districts belonging to TN are likely to get light rains with thunderstorms in the next 2 days. Regional Meteorological Centre or RMC had mentioned that the coastal districts like TN, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to get thunderstorms with moderate rains in isolated places for the next 2days.

Director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, RMC, Mr. N. Puviarasan stated that the condition of the sky would be partly cloudy in Chennai and thunderstorms with light to moderate rains are likely to occur in some areas. The highest amount of rain of 7cm in TN was recorded at a station in YMCA Nandanam. Stations at Anna University recorded rains of 5cm followed by Chengalpet, Ranipet and Tiruvallur each with 5cm rains. Kancheepuram and Vellore each received 4cm of rain and 2cm of rain was recorded in The Nilgiris.

On Tuesday, the maximum temperature in Chennai reduced and it brought huge relief for the residents. Maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded a maximum of 37.2degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded in Meenambakkam and in Nungambakkam yesterday were 22.5 degrees Celsius and 24.4 degrees Celsius respectively.

In Kodaikanal in TN, a sharp downpour lasted for nearly 3 hours and made the people happy. Here, the tourism sector has been affected badly due to the Coronavirus pandemic and lockdown is a known fact. In the peak of the summer season in May, Kodaikanal normally receives sporadic rains but this time the rains were heavy.
