This important GCC zone has now got the highest growth rate of New COVID cases

Royapuram zone in the north Chennai is now making many heads turn for this reason!!
The GCC released the data yesterday and as per the data Royapuram zone registered a 9.3% growth rate of new Covid-19 cases in the last 7 days. It is important to note that this has been the highest increase among all 15 GCC zones in Chennai. It is learnt that in Chennai city the overall new growth rate is 9.8%. While the rest of the GCC zones had new cases hovering around 1% for several weeks, Royapuram zone and Tondiarpet zone were amongst the first few zones with active cases falling below 1%.
It is true that in recent times Royapuram zone has gone back to having 1% active Covid-19 cases. The TN state has been preparing for the Assembly elections in April and due to this there would be pandemic control along with election related activities. This was according to Mr. G. Prakash, Chennai corporation commissioner. Irrespective of the age groups, all personnel who are in the election duty would be vaccinated. It must not be forgotten that Royapuram zone in north Chennai was a Coronavirus hotspot some months back and the GCC officials took huge efforts and brought things under control.
