With the cyclone Nivar having crossed the coast at a distance of 30 km northwards of Puducherry, it has weakened and is drifting towards the northwest. This would gradually transform into a low-pressure zone and then to a depression zone moving towards Karnataka.

At the same time, as the effect on the northeast monsoon rainy season, a new low-pressure zone is set to be formed over the South Bay of Bengal. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has estimated that this would move towards the southern districts of Tamil Nadu.

As per IMD, following the cyclone Nivar, there are prospects for mild to medium rains with thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu, |Puducherry, and Karaikkal.

When the cyclone Nivar crossed the coast at a 30 km distance north of Puducherry, high-speed winds blew in the northern coastal districts.
