Prospects for heavy rains from 8.00 PM - Cyclonic conditions wi prevail for 6 hours even after the cyclone crosses the coast!

The Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, S. Balachandran has informed that the severe cyclone Nivar will cross the coast near Puducherry.

The Director of the Chennai Regional |Meteorological |Centre has a session with the press reporters this afternoon (Wednesday, 25th November) shared:

Due to the severe cyclone Nivar, situated over the southwest Bay of Bengal, there are prospects for heavy rains in the coastal districts from 8.00 PM tonight. Further, while the cyclone crosses the coast, high-speed winds at 155 kmph will blow and that the cyclone is located at 110 km from Cuddalore, 120 km from Puducherry, and 215 km from the Chennai Metro City.

He further explained that the impact of the cyclone will prevail in these areas for another 6 hours before weakening and hence until that time, the cyclone conditions will prevail. He informed that there will be strong and high-speed winds and heavy rains in the route taken by the cyclone Nivar while crossing the coast.

The cyclone Nivar will pass via the districts of Ranippettai, Thirupathur, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore and there are prospects for very heavy rains tomorrow (Thursday, 26th November) in these places... High-speed winds may blow in Thiruvannamalai and Thirupathur districts.

As at present situation, severe cyclone Nivar is predicted to cross the coast as a severe cyclone near Puducherry. The cyclone situation will prevail for the next 6 hours even after the cyclone crosses the coast! Then only the climate will start weakening. At the same time, cyclone Nivar may take around 2 full hours to cross the coast completely!
