Prospects for heavy rains in 4 districts in Tamil Nadu!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that due to the phenomenon of the cyclonic format prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere, there are prospects for heavy rains in 1 or 2 places on Wednesday (today, 28th October) in 4 districts in Tamil Nadu.

The Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Puviyarasan, explained on this:

“Due to the cyclonic format prevailing over the upper layers of the atmosphere over the southwest Bay of Bengal, there are prospects for heavy rains in 1 or 2 places in the 4 districts of Thirunelveli, Thenkasi, Virudhunagar, and Theni.

There are prospects for mild to medium rains in the other southern districts and there are prospects for mid rain on a few places. There are prospects for mild rains in a few places in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.

As regards the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs, the sky will generally remain cloudy. There are prospects for mild rain in a few places in the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs.

Northeast Monsoon

The climatic conditions are conducive for the commencement of the northeast monsoon rainy season on Wednesday (today, 28th October). Due to the stormy conditions prevailing in the Pacific Ocean, the speed of the northeast monsoon winds is somewhat lesser. This wind is drifting towards Thailand. Due to this, the northeast monsoon winds have been rendered weaker. As such, the climatic conditions are conducive even with the weaker winds for the onset of the northeast monsoon rainy season.”
