In Chennai, nearly one-third of the population exposed to COVID, overall positivity rate 32.3%

The overall positivity rate in Chennai is 32.3% and this was revealed by the second survey that was conducted recently. This has been mentioned by some authorities. More than 3000 fresh Coronavirus cases were reported for the second straight day in TN yesterday. The tally now stands at 697lakhs on Wednesday.

The sero survey results have shown that nearly one-third of the population in Chennai has been exposed to the Coronavirus infection. It must not be forgotten that the first sero survey was conducted in the month of July.

It was mentioned by GCC in the statement that second sero survey samples tested 6389 out of which 2062 are positive for IgG antibodies presence with overall positivity rate of 32.3percent.

On 1st September, in the first phase of survey, with a sample size of around 12000 had revealed that one-fifth of the population that is 21.5% in Chennai was exposed to the pathogen. It is important to note that on Wednesday TN had as many as 3086 fresh Covid-19 cases and this took the total tally to 697116. 

In the Chennai city there were as many as 845 fresh cases yesterday and the total stands at 192,527 cases. Information collected is that the recoveries continue to be more than the fresh number of cases.
