Drop in COVID cases- Number of containment zones in Chennai

The drop in the number of Covid-19 cases in Chennai city has resulted in the removal of barricades on the 10 streets in Ambattur zone plus in 3 streets of other zones. This was according to the officials belonging to the Chennai Corporation. After a gap of 3 days, GCC has brought down the number of containment zones from 70 to 57 now.
It must not be forgotten that the GCC had increased the containment zones from the initial 10 to 70 after the Covid-91 cases increased in Chennai city. The truth is that GCC began barricading the streets that had Coronavirus cases from 1st October.
Ambattur zone grabbed the attention as it had the maximum number of barricaded streets that was 29. On Wednesday, 14th October, GCC released the list on the number of containment zones. Information gathered is that there are just 57 places that have been barricaded.
There are 19 streets in the Ambattur zone that have been blocked by GCC. It is worth mentioning that the number of active Coronavirus cases has dropped below `1000 mark from a high of 1062 on10th October. This has led to the removal of the barricades. As per the Ambattur zone civic officer, the streets were barricaded to prevent the formation of clusters.
